8 NOV: TROFEO SALIDA INVERSA IV MORAIRA
Published 11:10 on 11 Nov 2025
Club Nautico Moraira held the Trofeo Salida Inverse again on Saturday 8th November. This race has an unusual format in that instead of all the boats starting at the same time and the results are worked out by adjusting the finish time using each yachts rating; boats start at staggered start times worked out by applying their ORC rating (handicap). The boat with the largest rating starts first, then the next and so on. The boat with the smallest handicap starts last. The final positions are determined by the order that each boat crosses the finish line.
There were two CBYA boats in the race: Matador II (Barry McCrae) and Sapphire (John Mackney). The wind was very strong throughout the race reaching 25knots at the start, which gave the heavier cruising boats a fighting change. The race was won by Yvonne (who started 1st). Sapphire started 31 minutes and 08 seconds after Yvonne and finished 11th. Matador started a few minutes later and finished 14th. Jefertje started last and just passed Sapphire as they crossed the finish line.
