The Team
The Costa Blanca Yacht Association (CBYA) is run day to day by a dedicated Committee of volunteers who bring a wealth of experience and passion for sailing and events management. Each Committee member plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous development of the association. The CBYA is a registered with the Generalitat Valenciana and in accordance with its Articles of Association.
Each Committee member aims to promote safe and enjoyable sailing experiences while nurturing a welcoming community for all members. Their collective efforts ensure that CBYA remains a dynamic and inclusive association for any sailing enthusiast.
COMMITTEE ROLES:
Commodore / Chairperson - JOHN MACKNEY. Leads the association, oversees strategic planning, and represents the CBYA in official matters.
Vice Commodore / Vice Chairperson - JULIE BENNEWORTH. Supports the Commodore / Chairperson and steps in as needed to ensure continuity.
Rear Commodore Treasurer - SAIRA MACKNEY. Manages the association's finances, including budgeting and financial reporting.
Rear Commodore Secretary - SUE EYNSTONE-HINKINS. Handles administrative tasks, meeting minutes, and official correspondence.
Rear Commodore Membership Secretary - TBC. Manages member registrations, renewals, and maintains the membership database.
Rear Commodore Sailing - CORNELIA FORSTER. Organises charter sailing activities, coordinates events, and ensures safety protocols are followed.
Rear Commodore Sailing - STEVE DAY. Organises watersports / fleet sailing activities, coordinates events, and ensures safety protocols are followed.
Technology Manager - TBC. Manages future-proofing, implementation, maintenance, data quality, compliance, and security, for applications, systems and social media.
SUPPORTING NON-COMMITTEE ROLES:
Social Secretary - CAROLINE ROBERTS. Plans and executes social events, fostering community engagement among members.
Social Administrator - TESSA KLOOSTERBOER. Works with the Social Secretary.
Powerboat Coordinator - PETER BIRD. Works with both Rear Commodores Sailing.
