5 Clubs Regattas

The Costa Blanca Yacht Association (CBYA) actively takes part in the "5 Clubs Regattas", which are yacht races from the Club Náuticos of Moraira, Altea, Campomanes, Villajoyosa and the Real Club Náutico de Calpe, usually five races per series.  

Races are split into a Spring series (January to April) and an Autumn series (September to December). All yachts taking part must be minimum length of 9 metres and require a rating certificate. Three categories have been created ORC-A, ORC-B, and ORC-C - which is used for a handicapping system. The yacht ratings for CBYA members are sponsored by the association.

Participation in the regattas contributes to a points-based system, culminating in annual awards that recognize consistent performance and achievement. This structure motivates members to engage actively throughout the sailing season.

Each regatta presents unique challenges and sailing conditions, encouraging participants to adapt and refine their techniques. The diversity of races ensures that sailors experience a comprehensive range of scenarios, that enhance their overall proficiency.

Beyond the races, the regattas serve as social gatherings among members and create an environment for sharing experiences and knowledge.
