27 OCT: 5-CLUBS RACE ALTEA

Two CBYA boats competed in the 5-Clubs race in Altea yesterday: Matador II (Barry McCrae) and Sapphire (John Mackney). CBYA members crewed on both boats. The race was run under very windy conditions with 31kts of wind recorded going around the Calpe fish farm. Apart from the lead boats in class A, no boats flew spinnakers. This levelled the playing field some in Classes B - D. Both CBYA boats scored points with Matador finishing 7th on corrected time and Sapphire 10th. Crew sailing with Barry McCrae included Isabel Gonzales-MacDowell, Chris Engels and Ben Woodcock. And on Sappire with John Mackney were Connie Forster, Saskia Dormaar and Nick Stockley.
