07 SEP: CBYA CRUISE IN COMPANY DAY 3

We sailed from San Antonio for Cala Portinatx with all 3 boats setting sail at 12:00, in company. 

The flotilla hit 25knots of headwind as soon as we rounded Pta Castellá, and Midnight Wanderers and Bifrost dropped their sails and motored. 

Sapphire put in a reef and carried on beating to windward, but whilst putting in another reef accidentally hove to, and after decided to continue round and gybe rather than motor back onto the tack, broke her vang bracket. So the crew dropped the main to effect repairs

Jury rigged, the sail was re-hoisted and Sapphire sailed on, but couldn't gain on the boats motoring ahead. After an hour sapphire closed with the coast and too motored into the waves. 

At 4pm we anchored in Cala Portinatx, well sheltered from the easterly wind.

Ashore we had a delicious meal overlooking the bay and watching our anchor lights, and then, suitably lubricated with some excellent wine and chupitos, we motored our dinghies back to our respective yachts
