Watersports Day
€10/pp to take part on the water (not required for the social parts of the day)
- Meet on the beach and bring a picnic if you would like
- Aiming to have our 420s, Wanderer and Lasers out on the water
- Sit-on kayak/s and the CBYA windsurfer can be used close to shore
- You are welcome to bring your own dinghy, windsurfer, kayak or paddleboard
- Mid-afternoon there may be a triangular course out in the bay for sailors (conditions permitting)
- Come and see the Rigiflex support boat in action!
- Opportunity to feed-back and make suggestions to improve our activities in the future
- Afterwards there will be a social get-together and drinks at Raco Bar
You must be a current paid-up member of the CBYA to take part in this event. Please log in to your CBYA member account with the email address and password that you used to join to provide your details and reserve tickets below (NB. payment is not immediately required). Once you have reserved tickets you will receive a 'new booking' email. After the event has taken place you will receive a second email with a request for payment.
Please wear suitable clothes and water shoes for the sailing conditions and bring a drink, suncream, towel and change of clothes. Safety is extremely important. Buoyancy aids must be worn - there are a few available to borrow though please bring your own if you have one. You are advised to wear a helmet. At each event there is a coordinator on the beach who will give pre-sail briefings to participants as required. The CBYA provides limited personal accident and civil liability insurance for members while sailing the CBYA dinghies at El Portet (NB. other watersports are not covered). Dinghy sailors are advised to read the insurance summary on the FAQs page HERE and consider whether to take out their own supplementary policy with higher insured values, the same as members who sail the TOMs and have the SomVela Licence.
There is a WhatsApp Group for those who take part on the water. The weather forecast, any special arrangements and notices of postponement or cancellation (when necessary) are posted there. Please reserve your tickets to be added to the WhatsApp Group by the event coordinator.
